ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A lifting device for use with a paving slab comprises a handle and a straight shank non-rotatably secured at one end thereof within the handle. A straight support portion extends perpendicularly from the opposite end of the shank and terminates at a point. The shank has small cross-sectional dimensions in all transverse directions to fit and rotate between adjacent slabs. The device is inserted in the gap between adjacent slabs and twisted so that the support portion is beneath one of the slabs. The device is then pulled upward to raise the slab.
