A B S T R A C T THE INVENTION provides a lifting device for re-railing railroad vehicles comprising a guide rail which is adapted to be disposed substantially horizontally in use, a traveller mounted for movement on the rail, the traveller being adapted to suppport a lifting jack or the like in use, and drive means for moving the traveller along the guide.
