ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention LIFTING DEVICE or "SIMLIFT" is related to the lifting or rigging of pipe, pipe piles, logs, drilling shafts, or other flat or cylindrical objects. The LIFTING DEVICE or "SIMLIFT" consists of lifting hook or lifting hooks, ball housing ring which contains metal balls, release collar and fastening ring. To lift up a cylindrical object of given diameter the corresponding size collar is placed around the end where lifting will occur and as lifting starts, the force of gravity or some other ball setting mechanism will lower the balls in downwards direction, thus providing a grip on the object to be lifted. To release the LIFTING DEVICE or "SIMLIFT" a hammer or some other ball release mechanism will activate a Release Collar, which in turn will force the steel balls to move upwards, thus releasing the object to be lifted. In case where the Release Collar is not accessible, the LIFTING DEVICE or "SIMLIFT" can be equipped with a setting and release mechanism which can be hydraulic or pneumatic to operated the Release Ring. In its simplest form the LIFTING DEVICE or "SIMLIFT" could consist of one ball lifting device capable of lifting and holding in position a flat sheet of metal, paper, board, etc. and in this simplified form the invention is basically a paper clip or hanger.
