NOVEL LIGAND CATALYST SYSTEMS FORMED BY REACTION OF CARBONYL COMPOUNDS WITH ORGANOSILICON COMPOUNDS D#77,853 -F ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A novel catalyst system useful in preparation of dimethyl carbonate is prepared by complexing a metal salt such as cupric chloride CuCl2 with a ligand formed by reacting a carbonyl-containing organic compound such as ethyl formate with an organosilicon compound containing alkoxy and amine functionality, such as 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane.
