ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A light alloy cylinder head for a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine, the said cylinder head comprising bolt holes, distributed around its periphery, for the purpose of securing the said head to a cylinder barrel or crank case, and also comprising, in the vicinity of the bolt hole subjected to the greatest amount of heat, an insert made of a metal highly resistant to creep under heat and pressure, the said insert forming the bearing surface for the head of the bolt or the nut. According to a further development, the said insert is to extend to the surface of the cylinder head which bears upon the cylinder barrel and is to be in the form of a ring, one such insert being provided in each bolt hole.
