LIGHT CHANNEL ILLUMINATOR Abstract of the Disclosure There is provided an illuminator that is particularly suited for office copiers. A transparent dielectric channel of glass or plastics material transmits light from a source. Remote from the source there is a device, e. g., a layer of reflective material deposited on the outer surface of the channel that deflects light energy being transmitted along the channel towards the object. The light conduit has a first portion with an end disposed adjacent the light source to transmit light from the source along the rod by means of multiple internal reflection and a second portion curved with respect to the first portion and disposed in relation to the platen for illumination of an object supported there- on. -1-
