A light box for contact printing enlarging and the like comprising a light source with a continuously variable light filter, a matrix of optical fibres or bundles of optical fibres positioned such as to receive light transmitted by the filter and transmit the light to the printing surface, a means mounted in association with each fibre or bundle of fibres to control the amount of light transmitted through the fibre or bundle of fibres.
