ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A light emitting tube and a method for producing such a tube in which stable lamp characteristics are assured by preventing an adhesive agent used in the manufacture of the tube from being in contact with the interior of the tube, thereby preventing the reaction of sodium or the like with the adhesive agent and the consequent reduction in the quantity of sodium. An annular plate is fixed on an outer surface of each of the tube end walls through an adhesive agent. A part of this adhesive agent fills a gap between the annular plate and the tube end wall, but, due to a capillary action produced by the annular plate, the end of the adhesive agent is prevented from entering the inner surface of the tube end wall.
