ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for the photogeneration of electrical signals representative of a detectable condition of an image-bearing surface. The apparatus includes a transparent substrate upon which an array of spaced, thin film photosensitive elements is deposited. A substantially loss-free, light transmitting faceplate, preferably formed from a fused array of oriented optical fibers is operatively spaced from that array of photosensitive elements.
