LIGHT-REFLECTION METHOD FOR TRANSMISSION-LOSS MEASUREMENTS IN SPLICED OPTICAL FIBER LIGHTGUIDES A B S T R A C T Object - to increase versatility by way of providing a pos- sibility of determining losses within any of the i-th lightguides, out of K lightguides, spliced together so as to form an optical fiber lightguide line, without disconnecting the lightguides, is ensured by coupling a sounding pulse into the lightguides under investigation through an idle lightguide, measuring energy or total power, Ni-1,i and Ni,i+1, of pulses reflected from the air gaps at the input, output and at the input to the last light- guide, as well as reflection from the end face of the last light- guide, determining transmission losses, µi, µk, over a unit length of any of the lightguides, but not the last one, and the last lightguide, from mathematical formulas. Bibl. 2. Ill. 1.
