A lighted running board assembly (10) for use on an automotive vehicle comprises a mounting bracket (12) adapted to be mounted to the vehicle in a generally horizontal plane. The assembly has a generally horizontally extending framing network (20) removably secured to the mounting bracket and including at least one recessed mounting cavity. The framing network includes lower support framing network supported on and removably coupled to the mounting bracket, an integral framing network (32) in mating engagement with and removably coupled to the lower support framing network, and a reflective framing network (52) in mating engagement with and removably coupled to the integral framing network. The lighted running board further includes a generally horizontally extending translucent light emitting step pad removably secured to the framing network for providing an ingress and egress step to an occupant of the vehicle. The light emitting step pad forms at least one light housing chamber (70) between the light emitting step pad and the mounting cavity of framing network. A light source (72), such as an LED (74), is mounted in the mounting cavity of the framing network and housed within the light housing chamber for projecting light upwardly through said translucent portion of the light emitting step pad. the reflective framing network forms a plurality of reflective cavities overlaying the recessed mounting cavities for reflecting light from the light source towards the light emitting step pad.
L'invention concerne un ensemble marchepied lumineux (10) utilisé dans un véhicule automobile et comprenant un support de montage (12) conçu pour être monté sur le véhicule dans un plan généralement horizontal. Ledit ensemble comprend un dispositif d'armature (12) fixé amovible au support de montage et comprenant au moins une cavité de montage évidée. Le dispositif d'armature comprend un dispositif d'armature de support inférieur disposé sur le support de montage et couplé à celui-ci, un dispositif d'armature intégral (32) apparié et couplé amovible au dispositif d'armature de support inférieur, et un dispositif d'armature de réflexion (52) apparié et couplé amovible au dispositif intégral. Le marchepied lumineux comprend également un élément de marche électroluminescent translucide généralement horizontal et fixé amovible au dispositif d'armature, les occupants du véhicule disposant ainsi d'une marche d'entrée et de sortie. L'élément de marche électroluminescent forme au moins un compartiment à lumière (70) entre l'élément électroluminescent et la cavité de montage du dispositif d'armature. Une source lumineuse (72), telle qu'un DEL (74), est montée dans la cavité de montage du dispositif d'armature et logée dans le compartiment à lumière de manière à émettre de la lumière vers le haut à travers ladite partie translucide de l'élément de marche électroluminescent. Le dispositif d'armature de réflexion est constitué par une pluralité de cavités de réflexion chevauchant les cavités de montage évidées de façon à réfléchir la lumière en provenance de la source lumineuse vers l'élément de marche électroluminescent.
