ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE : A stator and rotor lightened pivoting device for satellite. It comprises two passive magnetic suspension means, each of which consists of a radially magnetized crown fastened to the rotor and of a radially magnetized crown fastened to the stator. These suspension means generate axial magnetic fields producing two contrary forces. A third means of the pivot-stop type is used so that the resulting force between said contrary forces is itself balanced by reaction of said pivot upon said stop. A pivoting means for the rotor comprises a motor responsive to the angular positioning of said rotor. The invention is particularly adapted to masts serving as connecting supports for orientable solar panels producing energy on board of a satellite.
