A lighter safety system which in a first "safety on" position prevents the ignition of the lighter by blocking the depression of the lighter trigger. The simultaneous engagement of a safety pin with the operator's thumb and the depression of the trigger by the operator's fingers (of the same hand) allows the lighter to ignite.
