ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A lighting assembly for luminaries and the method of installation wherein the base or pedestal is readily interchangeable with the pole. An anchor plate is mounted in the bottom of the pole and has a plurality of mounting bolts threadably engaged in holes formed in the anchor plate. An equal number of keyhole-shaped slides are formed in a mounting plate located on the top of the base. Each keyhole-shaped slide has an aperture which is larger than the diameter of the bolt head and an arcuate slot extending outwardly therefrom having a width smaller than the size of the bolt head. The pole is lowered onto the base and the head of the bolt passes through the aperture of the keyhole-shaped slide. The pole is then rotated to align the ornamental features of the pole with that of the base with the bolt shaft moving along the narrower slot. The bolt is tightened to clamp either the bottom of the pole against the base or the anchor plate of the pole against the mounting plate of the base, by the head of the bolt clamping against the bottom surface of the base mounting plate. 12
