The invention relates to a lighting device for signalling, identification or marking which has light sources (1) which are in the form of semiconductor components, e.g. light-emitting diodes or light-emitting polymers. To produce the lighting device with a larger range of application while reducing technical and design outlay, in each case a plurality of semiconductor components are combined to form a cluster (3), and the lighting device can be produced in the manner of a module from any number of, optionally, different clusters (3).
