ABSTRACT A lighting fixture for a luminaire, such as that for an outdoor floodlight includes a housing having a lighting compartment and an energization compartment, the latter of which accomodates a removably mounted tray on which all of the electrical components of the lighting fixture, including ballast, transformer and lamp socket are mounted. When the tray is received in the energization compartment, the lamp socket is located to receive a lamp extending into the lighting compartment, the lamp being positioned with respect to an optical system therein to provide a predetermined light pattern. The component tray includes a plug connector engage- able with a complementary connector providing power to the luminaire. A door, having a transparent lens aligned with the lighting compartment and an opaque panel aligned with the energization compartment, encloses the compartments. Use of standardized trays with different ballast and electrical component variations, permits utilization of the luminaire housing for a variety of different lamp types and a quick change of components in the event of malfunction thereof.
