ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A lightning arrester arrangement for a power trans- mission line comprises a serial connection of a non-linear resistor and a linear resistor as a lightning arrester. A pair of electrodes separated by a gap are arranged at respec- tive opposite ends of the lightning arrester thereby to prevent damage to the lightning arrester caused by direct lightning to a power transmission line.
