A brake drum that converts kinetic and potential energy into frictional heat without developing destructively high temperatures and provides such performance at a reduced weight with an increase in cooling effectiveness through the use of a squealer band positioned on the centerline of the drum braking surface along with axial cooling fins radiating therefrom and windows on the wraparound portion abutting mounting face.

L'invention porte sur un tambour de frein qui permet de transformer l'énergie cinétique et potentielle en chaleur de frottement sans augmenter de manière destructive les températures, et ceci avec un poids réduit et une meilleure efficacité de refroidissement. L'invention fait appel, à cet effet, à un anneau antibruit disposé sur la ligne médiane de la surface du tambour de frein, ainsi qu'à des d'ailettes de refroidissement axiales qui s'étendent depuis l'anneau et à des fenêtres formées sur la partie enveloppante contiguë à la face de montage.
