A collapsible boat (100) has a frame (102) covered by a hull skin (142), the frame (102) having two gunwales (104) and a keel stringer (114) terminating at two stem elements (116, 118). The ends (106, 108) of the gunwales (104) can be secured to the corresponding stem element (116, 118) by end connectors (132, 140) that connect to the stem element (116, 118) and are held by skin tension. Alternatively, the hull skin (204) can secure the gunwale ends (206) to the corresponding stem element (212), the gunwales (208) residing in closed-ended gunwale sleeves (214) and the hull skin (204) being configured to secure the gunwale ends (206) together and prevent upwards motion of the stem element (212). The closed ends (216") can be openable to install the gunwales (208). To tension the hull skin (142) over the frame (102), the keel stringer (114) can have a central joint (150) to allow installation in a bent configuration. The keel stringer (114) is straightened during assembly to increase its effective length, causing the stem elements (116, 118) to forcibly engage the hull skin (142).

Dans une variante, le revêtement de coque (204) peut fixer les extrémités du plat-bord (206) à l'étrave correspondante (212), les plats-bords (208) étant dans des manchons fermés à leurs extrémités (214) et le revêtement de coque (204) étant configuré de façon à fixer les extrémités des plats-bords (206) ensemble et à empêcher l'étrave de se déplacer vers le haut (212). Les extrémités fermées (216) s'ouvrent pour l'installation des plats-bords (208). Pour tendre le revêtement de coque (142) sur le couple (102), la serre de quille (114) peut comprendre un joint central (150) qui permet son installation en position incurvée. La serre de quille (114) est redressée pendant l'assemblage pour augmenter sa longueur effective, ce qui force les étraves (116, 118) à entrer en prise avec le revêtement de coque (142).
