A lightweight draft arm (20) for use in a railway car includes a center plate (36) with a significant amount of material removed, and lateral support members (48, 50) inboard and outboard of the center plate (36) traversing the side walls (26, 28) of the draft arm (20). The removal of the material around the center plate (36) along with the addition of the lateral support members (48, 50) decrease the overall weight of the draft arm (20) while still maintaining its strength. With the exception of the enhancements around the center plate (36), the draft arm (20) is conventional.
L'invention concerne un bras d'attelage (20) léger utilisé dans un wagon et comprenant une plaque de centre (36) ayant une quantité considérable de matériau retiré et des éléments de support latéraux (48, 50) à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur de la plaque de centre (36) traversant les parois latérales (26, 28) du bras d'attelage (20).
