Low density joint compounds, and methods for their use are disclosed. Joint compounds comprising water, calcium carbonate, a foaming agent, and a rheology modification agent contain a plurality of stable air bubbles. Joint compounds can have densities of about (4) pounds per gallon to about (8) pounds per gallon. A presently prepared composition has a density of about (4.8) pounds per gallon. A presently preferred foaming agent is a polyether siloxane copolymer. A presently preferred rheology modification agent is polyethylene oxide). The joint compounds can comprise additional components such as perlite, mica, talc, preservatives, and latex.
L'invention concerne des pâtes à joint de faible densité et leurs procédés d'utilisation. Ces pâtes à joint renferment de l'eau, du carbonate de calcium, un agent moussant et un agent de modification de la rhéologie, ainsi qu'une pluralité de bulles d'air stables. Lesdites pâtes à joint peuvent présenter des densités d'environ 4 livres par gallon, voire jusqu'à environ 8 livres par gallon. Une composition préparée selon l'invention présente une densité d'environ 4,8 livres par gallon. Un agent moussant préféré de cette invention est un copolymère de siloxane de polyéther. Un agent de modification de la rhéologie préféré est un oxyde de polyéthylène.
