10876-C LINE EDGE FOLLOWER WITH A CIRCULAR PHOTOSENSOR ARRAY ABSTRACT OF INVENTION The system of the present invention comprises a photosensor array of photodiodes arranged in a circle which are sequentially scanned at a predetermined rate to generate video pulses, a lense system to focus the reflected image from the edge to be followed onto the circular array, means for generating sine and cosine waves at a frequency synchronized to the video pulses, means responsive to the video pulses for generating a sample and holde pulse and means for comparing the sample and hold pulse in time to the sine and cosine waves to generate coordinate error signals.
