A new framing product or member, such as a stud for use in the assembly of a wall of a building. The framing member is of preselected length for use in the assembly of a wall and has a first face and a second parallel face opposite the first face. A pair of parallel side surfaces are at right angles to the first and second faces. The faces and sides extend along the preselected length of the member. The member is pre-marked with a plurality of discrete, visible, markings only at preselected, relevant locations or points required by the several different types of subcontractors to hang or install their specific devices or service members, and may be on either or both of the faces and sides. The member is substantially free of extraneous markings such as premarked grid lines or scales that add markings which are not relevant and make the framing member more difficult to use by masking the relevant discrete markings. The studs may be made from wood, metal such as steel, plastic or any other type of material used to frame a building. The markings are independent of the type of material, although the type of material may affect the manner in which the markings are made.

L'invention concerne un nouveau produit ou élément de charpente tel qu'une barre servant à l'assemblage du mur d'un bâtiment. La longueur présélectionnée de cet élément de charpente présente une première face à laquelle est opposée une seconde face disposée en parallèle. Une paire de surfaces latérales parallèles forment un angle droit avec les première et seconde faces. Les faces et les côtés s'étendent le long de la longueur présélectionnée de l'élément qui présente au préalable une pluralité de marques distinctes et visibles pratiquées uniquement en des points ou emplacements prédéterminés pertinents que les différents types de sous-traitants utilisent pour suspendre ou installer leurs appareils spécifiques ou leurs éléments de service. Ces marques peuvent d'ailleurs être ménagées sur une des faces ou un des côtés ou les deux. L'élément est pratiquement exempt de marques superflues telles que des lignes de référence ou des échelles à traits prémarquées qui apportent des marques non pertinentes et rendent, de ce fait, plus difficile la manipulation de l'élément de structure en masquant les marques distinctes pertinentes. Les barres peuvent être en bois, en métal, notamment en acier, en plastique ou en un tout autre matériau utilisé dans la construction. On pratique des marques quel que soit le matériau utilisé, mais ce dernier peut affecter la manière de procéder au marquage.
