ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A linear actuator comprises a spool, a stiff flexible strip wound on the spool, a device for rotating the spool at least to partially unwind the strip thereon, a guide funnel for gradually forming the strip into a tubular configuration as it comes off the spool, and an attachment device at a free end of the strip for connection to an object to be moved in a linear path.
