The present invention relates to novel linear and branched peptides specific for the diagnosis and prevention of non-A, non-B hepatitis (NANBH), as well as hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. More particularly, the present invention is directed to linear peptides diagnostic for NS-3 of HCV as well as branched synthetic and hybrid and hybrid peptides containing at least one epitope which is effective in detecting NANBH-associated antibodies in patients with NANBH using immunoassay techniques. In addition, this invention provides immunoassays for the detection and diagnosis of NANBH using the subject peptides, vaccine compositions for prevention and treatment of NANBH of HCV infection as well as a method of treating or preventing NANBH and HCV infection.
Nouveaux peptides linéaires et ramifiés spécifiques pour le diagnostic et la prévention de l'hépatite non-A non-B, ainsi que de l'infection par le virus de l'hépatite C. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention concerne le diagnostic par peptides linéaires pour NS-3 du virus de l'hépatite C, ainsi que des peptides ramifiés synthétiques substitués et hybrides contenant au moins un épitope qui est efficace pour détecter des anticorps associés à l'hépatite non-A non-B chez des patients atteints de ladite maladie, à l'aide de techniques de dosages immunologiques. La présente invention concerne en outre des dosages immunologiques pour la détection et le diagnostic de l'hépatite non-A non-B à l'aide desdits peptides, des compositions de vaccin de l'hépatite C, ainsi qu'un procédé de traitement ou de prévention de l'hépatite non-A non-B et de l'hépatite C.
