A linear compound and a metal salt or boron-containing metal salt thereof contains one or more carboxyl-containing phenol units or derivatives thereof and one or more on average at least C18 hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic units or derivatives thereof connected by one or more divalent bridging groups. A concentrate contains the linear compound or metal salt thereof and an organic diluent. A lubricating oil composition contains a minor amount of the linear compound or metal salt thereof and a major amount of a lubricating oil. Additional embodiments of the invention are processes to make the linear compound and the metal salt thereof.

L'invention concerne un composé linéaire et un sel métallique ou un sel métallique de ce dernier contenant du bore, qui contiennent une ou plusieurs unités de phénol contenant du carboxyle ou des dérivés de ces dernières et, en moyenne, au moins une ou plusieurs unités hydroxyaromatiques à substitution d'hydrocarbyle C¿18? ou des dérivés de ces dernières reliées par des groupes en pont divalents. Un concentré contient ledit composé linéaire ou un sel métallique de ce dernier ainsi qu'un diluent organique. Une composition d'huile de lubrification contient une petite quantité dudit composé linéaire ou dudit sel métallique de ce dernier ainsi qu'une grande quantité d'huile de lubrification. Selon des modes de réalisation supplémentaires, l'invention concerne des procédés de fabrication du composé linéaire et du sel métallique de ce dernier.
