A linear conoscope (20) for producing an interferogram of the three- dimensional structure of an object (22). The interfernece pattern of the interferogram varies linearly with the distance from the center of the Gabor lens zone. A realization of the linear conoscope has an anisotropic optical arrangement with two series coupled anisotropic optical elements (30, 32) having respective optical axes oriented such as to cancel quadratic phase shift terms introduced between polarizations of light traversing the anisotropic optical arrangement. A polarization analyzer (18) between the second anisotropic optical element (32) and a detector plane (14) separates the differentially phase shifted polarizations of light emanating from the surface of an inspected object and traversing the anisotropic optical arrangement.

Conoscope linéaire (20) pour la production d'un interférogramme de la structure tridimensionnelle d'un objet (22). Le diagramme d'interférence de l'interférogramme varie linéairement avec la distance par rapport au centre de la zone optique de Gabor. Dans un mode de réalisation, le conoscope linéaire se compose d'un dispositif optique anisotrope à deux éléments optiques anisotropes (30, 32) couplés en série, possédant des axes optiques respectifs orientés de sorte qu'ils annulent les écarts de phase quadratique introduits entre les polarisations de lumière traversant le dispositif optique anisotrope. Un analyseur de polarisation (18) placé entre le deuxième élément optique anisotrope (32) et un plan de détecteur (14), sépare les polarisations déphasées de lumière émanant de la surface d'un objet inspecté et traversant le dispositif optique anisotrope.
