A method of forming a rail having an elongate base member (26A) and a load bearing insert (34) is disclosed. The method includes forming a base member having surfaces with at least one longitudinal groove (32A) and inserting the load bearing insert (34) into the longitudinal groove (32A). Inserting of the load bearing insert may be performed by flexing the load bearing insert to fit into the longitudinal groove. The surfaces (40A) of the base member adjacent the longitudinal groove may be subsequently crimped to secure the load bearing insert.

L'invention porte sur une technique de fabrication d'un rail comportant une base allongée (26a) et un élément rapporté (34) porteur de charge. Ledit procédé consiste à former une base dont l'une des surfaces au moins présente une rainure longitudinale (32A), puis à insérer l'élément rapporté (34) dans ladite rainure (32 A) en le faisant éventuellement fléchir pour l'y engager. La surface (40A) de la base contiguë à la rainure peut par la suite être sertie pour assujettir au rail l'élément rapporté.
