Image (Ib), which increases the solubility of the polymer in organic solvents and in which the aromatic rings are unsubstituted or substituted by one or more (C1-C4)alkyl groups, (C1-C4)alkoxy groups, phenyl groups or halogen atoms, X is a direct bond, -SO2-, -CO-, -CO-O-, -CO-NH- or - Image , and Y is a direct bond, -SO2-, -CO-, -O-CO-, -NH-CO- or Image in which R2 is a hydrogen atom or methyl, Q1 is -O-, -NR2-, -S- or -OCO-, and Q2 is -O-, -NR2-, -S- or -COO-, R1 is a divalent, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic radical having up to 30 carbon atoms which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more (C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkylthio, (C2-C6)alkenyl, (C5-C12)cycloalkyl, or (C6-C12)aryl groups or by one or more cyano or nitro groups and in which one or more carbon atoms may be replaced by oxygen, sulfur and/or nitrogen atoms, or R1, if X and/or Y is a direct bond, is alternatively -CO-, can advantageously be processed from solution and are suitable for modifying matrix resins.
