A high strength, high toughness, low carbon/low manganese steel is provided that is further resistant to stepwise cracking and sulfide stress cracking. The steel can be produced by conventional or thin slab casting techniques using normal speeds, with low manganese segregation levels. The steels are excellent candidates for linepipe applications in severe sour gas service.
L'invention concerne un acier à faible teneur en carbone et en manganèse, à haute résistance mécanique et à haute ténacité, qui résiste en outre aux phénomènes de fissuration progressive et aux phénomènes de fissuration due aux contraintes exercées par le sulfure. Cet acier peut être produit par des techniques de coulée traditionnelles ou de coulée en brame fine, se déroulant à une vitesse normale et à un faible niveau de ségrégation du manganèse. Ces aciers conviennent tout particulièrement aux tubes de canalisation servant à une utilisation intensive de gaz sulfureux.
