ABSTRACT Explosive-formed projectiles made of a liner in the form of a calotte-shaped metal layer have, in particular, the object of combatting armoured targets at great distances. for this purpose it is necessary to produce from large calibre explosive charges projectiles having as large a d/l ratio as possible and stable flight characteristics. In view of the flight stability of such projectiles a defined projectile form in the head and particularly in the tail region is necessary. For this the liner has approxi- mately centrally aligned zones of different material thickness. During deformation of the liner, the number, size and length of the resulting wings is thereby fixed.
