A hood, dash, firewall or engine cover liner (10) is provided for a vehicle. The liner includes a nonlaminate acoustical and thermal insulating layer of polymer fiber (12) that shows no signs of any thickness increase, delamination, deterioration or any undesirable effect which may affect performance for at least 330 hours when maintained at a temperature of at least approximately 150~C (302~F). The liner may include a relatively high density, nonlaminate skin of polymer fiber (14) and/or one or more facing layers (16, 20) constructed from polymer material.
L'invention concerne une garniture (10) de capot, de tableau de bord, de cloison pare-feu ou de couvercle de moteur pour véhicule. Ladite garniture comprend une couche d'isolation acoustique et thermique non stratifiée de fibres polymères (12) ne présentant aucun signe d'augmentation d'épaisseur, de délamination, de détérioration ou d'effet indésirable pouvant affecter une performance pendant au moins 330 heures, lorsqu'on maintient cette garniture à une température d'environ 150·C (302·F). La garniture peut également comprendre un revêtement de fibres polymères (14) non stratifié de densité relativement élevée et/ou au moins une couche ou des couches opposées (16, 20) formées à partir d'un matériau polymère.
