A landfill site is lined by attaching an impermeable line (90) to a support structure for the purpose of containing waste material and preventing substances from draining or being leached from the waste into the subsoil. The support structure comprises a plurality of substantially rectangular panels (10) with rolled edges (14, 15, 16, 17) and their corners removed. The panels are supported and located adjacent to the wall of the landfill site in a planar array by a plurality of bolts (30) which are connected to the wall of the landfill site and pass through the openings (32) constituted by the absent corners of the panels. Adjacent pairs of rolled edges of adjacent panels are engaged by respective elongate C-section linking strips (45) which connect the panels together in a manner which permits at least limited relative pivotal movement.
On chemise un site de décharge en attachant un revêtement (90) de fond imperméable sur une structure de support pour contenir des déchets et empêcher les substances de couler ou bien empêcher l'inflitration des déchets dans le sous-sol. La structure de support comprend une pluralité de panneaux (10) sensiblement rectangulaires à bords roulés (14, 15, 16, 17) et à coins enlevés. Les panneaux sont supportés et situés adjacents à la paroi du site de décharge selon un réseau plan à l'aide d'une pluralité de boulons (30) qui sont connectés à la paroi du site de décharge et traversent des ouvertures (32) formées par les coins absents des panneaux. Des paires adjacentes de bords roulés de panneaux adjacents sont assemblées par des bandes (45) de liaison à section en C allongées respectives qui relient les panneaux ensemble de manière à autoriser au moins un mouvement de pivotement relatif limité.
