A resin application apparatus used in the production of oriented strand board has a rotary atomizer supported within a drum for containing and tumbling wood flakes. A spinning cup is rotatably supported by a housing of the atomized, with a gap formed between an outer surface of the cup and the housing. A supply line provides resin to the spinning cup for atomization thereof and coating of the tumbling wood flakes. A passageway is formed in the housing terminating in an outlet proximate the spinning cup. Solvent is flowed through the passageway and out of the outlet, sweeping away any accumulated material in the gap and on the spinning cup and housing. The cleaning operation is performed simultaneous with the flow and atomization of the resin, whereby the resin application process continues without interruption.
La présente invention a pour objet un dispositif servant à l'application de résine dans la fabrication de panneaux à copeaux orientés comportant u atomiseur rotatif monté à l'intérieur d'un baril servant à contenir et à culbuter les copeaux de bois. Une coupelle tournante est supportée à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe de l'atomiseur, un espace étant maintenu entre la surface extérieure de la coupelle et son enveloppe. Une conduite d'alimentation achemine la résine vers la coupelle tournante aux fins d'atomisation et d'enduction des copeaux de bois. Un passage aménagé à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe se termine en orifice de sortie situé à proximité de la coupelle tournante. Un solvant est acheminé à travers ce passage jusqu'à l'orifice de sortie aux fins d'évacuation des matières accumulées dans l'espace entre la coupelle et son enveloppe. L'opération de nettoyage et l'atomisation de la résine se produisent simultanément, ce qui permet à l'application de la résine d'être effectuée sans interruption.
