CA 2199705

A spout fitment (21) attached to a liquid filled bag (B) having a slidable dispensing valve member (217) to receive a line connector (70) for establishing a fluid path from an interior of the bag (B), through a valve element (84) in the line connector (70) and into a service line. Although the valve member (217) is slid into the bag when the line connector (70) is inserted therein, the sliding motion does not form the valve action. The bag seal is established by a valve element (223) within the valve member (217) that is resiliently biased to close an opening (215) therein. The valve member (217) thus need not be slid in the fitment (21) when the line connector (70) is removed from the valve member (217), thereby making it easier to remove and reinsert the line connector (70). Insertion of the line connector (70) within the valve member (217) causes their respective valve elements to engage each other to open and form the fluid flow path.
