ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved cathode ray tube assembly of the projection type and a method of making the same, including a lens formed of an acrylic resin. The projection type tube is assembled by applying an organo-polysiloxane coating as a pretreatment agent on the acrylic lens, followed by the step or bonding the lens and a metallic frame to each other through the medium of a silicone adhesive. In this way, the lens and the metallic frame are bonded strongly to each other, and the leakage of the coolant which exists in the space between the lens and the front face of the cathode ray tube is minimized.
