(57) Abstract There is disclosed a liquid delivery apparatus (I) compris- ing (i) a liquid reservoir (6) into which a liquid may be introduced via an inlet (11) to pressurise said liquid in the reservoir (6); (ii) an outlet via which said liquid may be discharged from the reser- voir (6) under the pressure of the liquid in the vessel (6); (iii) a valve (18) between the reservoir (6) and the outlet (14) to control passage of liquid from the reservoir (6) to the outlet (14), said valve (18) having (a) an opening (20), (b) a closure member (22) adapted to close the opening (20), and (c) a biasing means (32), the arrangement of the components of the valve (18) being such that the valve (18) is normally held closed under the force of the biasing means (32) and the pressure of the liquid in the reservoir (6); (iv) a valve control mechanism (10) for controlling the opera- tion of the valve (18) in response to the pressure of the liquid in the reservoir (6); and (v) a means (8) for transmitting the pressure in the reservoir (6) to the valve control mechanism (10); wherein the valve control mechanism (10) comprises a movable element (28) which is capable of being acted on by the pressure of the li- quid in the reservoir (6) and transmitting a resultant force to the closure member (22) of the valve (18) in a direction to open the valve (18), and wherein the respective effective surface areas of the movable element (28) and the closure member (22) and the force of the biasing means (32) are chosen such that the closure member (22) is opened when the pressure of the liquid in the res- ervoir (6) reaches a predetermined level. This apparatus (1) is use- ful for distributing waste water over agricultural land. There are also described two new forms of outlet for use with the liquid delivery apparatus.
