ABSTRACT A liquid distribution trough is maintained within a cooling and carbonating vessel to momentarily retain liquid supplied to the vessel. A plurality of cooling surfaces are maintained adjacent to and extending downwardly from the trough. The trough establishes two liquid retaining chambers, the first chamber receiving liquid directly from conduits supplying liquid to the vessel and the second chamber receiving excess liquid from the first. Each of the chambers allows liquid to gravitationally flow through aperatures and over the cooling surfaces, enabling the liquid to absorb carbon dioxide. Finally, a receptacle is provided within the vessel for receiving and collecting the cooled and carbonated liquid.
