A prebox receptacle (42) is mounted on and supported by a distributor pan (12), and has a bottom wall (44) with openings (50) which feed liquid into a deceleration space (52), from which the liquid passes through slotted tubes (10) into a pan prebox (70), then through openings (74) to slotted tubes (63) for uniform discharge onto the packing bed.
