ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A liquid heating system comprising a heat pump having a gas compressor, a condensor and an evaporator serially connected in a first closed circuit. The condensor has a heat exchange means to transfer heat from hot gas from the compressor to a liquid to be heated and fed to a reservoir. The reservoir is connected to an outlet conduit of the heat exchange means for storage of the heated liquid. A consumer conduit is connected to the reservoir. The reservoir has an outlet conduit connected to an inlet of the heat exchange means. A pump is provided in the outlet conduit between the reservoir and the heat exchange means. Means is further provided to maintain the temperature and pressure of the compressor at a compressor operating level. - 1 -
