Disclosed is a liquid one-component polyurethane stoving enamel essentially comprising: (a) a hydroxy-containing polymer having a hydroxyl number between 10 and 300 mg of KOH/g, (b) a partially or totally blocked polyisocyanate containing a uretdione group and based on isophorone diisocyanate, (c) an organic bismuth compound having the following formula: Image , in which R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 16 carbon atoms, and (d) an organic solvent or a solvent mixture, wherein the total amount of ingredients (a) + (b) is from 40 to 70 parts by weight, the amount of ingredient (c) is from 0.5 to 5 parts by weight and the amount of ingredient (d) is from 30 to 60 parts by weight, each based on 100 parts by weight of the total amount of ingredients (a), (b), (c) and (d), and wherein an NCO/OH equivalent ratio of NCO groups in ingredient (b) to OH groups in ingredient (a) is from 0.8 to 1.2. The enamel is stable during storage, thanks to the use of the organic bismuth compound (c) in place of conventional urethane catalysts.
