A process for the production of high octane number gasoline from light refinery olefins and benzene-containing aromatic streams such as reformate. Light olefins including ethylene and propylene are extracted from refinery off- gases, typically from the catalytic cracking unit, into a light aromatic stream such as reformate containing benzene and other single ring aromatic compounds which is then reacted with the light olefins to form a gasoline boiling range product containing akylaromatics. The alkylation reaction is carried out in the liquid phase with a catalyst which preferably comprises a member of the MWW family of zeolites such as MCM-22 using a fixed catalyst bed.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production d'essence à indice d'octane élevé à partir d'oléfines raffinées légères et de flux d'aromatiques contenant du benzène tels qu'un reformat. Les oléfines légères comprenant de l'éthylène et du propylène sont extraites des effluents gazeux de raffinerie provenant, en général, de l'unité de craquage catalytique, sous forme d'un flux d'aromatiques légers tel qu'un reformat et d'autres composés aromatiques monocycliques qu'on fait ensuite réagir avec les oléfines légères pour former un produit à plage de distillation de l'essence contenant des alkylaromatiques. La réaction d'alkylation est menée en phase liquide avec un catalyseur qui comprend de préférence un élément de la famille MWW des zéolites tel que MCM-22, au moyen d'un lit de catalyseur fixe.
