A system, that may be portable, for purifying liquid flowing gravitationally from a source/reservoir into a purified liquid receptacle is described. The system comprises a housing with a generally horizontal filtering space. More than one liquid inlets at a top portion of the filter are provided as well as one or more liquid outlets at a bottom portion. The liquid flows in a generally lateral direction through the liquid treatment medium. Two or more first walls extending upwardly into the filtering space from a bottom wall thereof and ending with an apex are provided inside the device. One or more second walls downwardly extending into the filtering space from a top wall thereof are also provided. Each of said walls defines a closed path. The first and second walls jointly cause the liquid to flow in a curvilinear flow path from the inlet to the outlet. Apexes of the first walls may be defined such that each apex more distal along the liquid flow path is at a lower level than an apex of a first wall more proximal along the flow path. One or more venting ports may be formed at a top wall portion of the housing for releasing gas from the filter.
L'invention concerne un système de purification de liquide destiné à purifier un liquide s'écoulant gravitationnellement d'une source ou d'un réservoir dans un réceptacle de liquide purifié. Ce système comprend un compartiment présentant une partie supérieure et une partie inférieure et un espace de filtration généralement horizontal contenant un milieu de traitement liquide. Il existe au moins une entrée de liquide sur la partie supérieure du filtre et au moins une sortie de liquide sur la partie inférieure du filtre. À l'intérieur du compartiment, le liquide circule dans une direction généralement latérale à travers le milieu de traitement liquide. Selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, au moins deux premières parois sont formées à l'intérieur du compartiment. Ces parois s'étendent vers le haut jusqu'à l'espace de filtration, à partir de la paroi de fond de celui-ci, et se terminent par un apex, et au moins une des secondes parois s'étendant vers le bas jusqu'à l'espace de filtration à partir de la paroi supérieure de celui-ci. Chaque paroi définit une trajectoire fermée. Les premières parois et les secondes parois font circuler conjointement le liquide dans une trajectoire d'écoulement curviligne, de l'entrée à la sortie. Les apex des premières parois sont tels que chaque apex se trouvant dans la position la plus distale par rapport à la trajectoire d'écoulement de liquide est situé à un niveau inférieur à un apex de première paroi se trouvant dans la position la plus proximale par rapport à la trajectoire d'écoulement. D'autres modes de réalisation sont également décrits.
