ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved liquid ring vacuum pump apparatus for reducing wear between the cone and rotor vanes, in which a novel cone structure has a greater thickness and greater external radius in the seal segment than in the remaining segments. An alternative embodiment includes a replaceable wear plate in the seal segment. The cone structure includes grooves and notches for directing fluid to specific segments within the pump.
