A B S T R A C T A liquid sterilizing composition is described which comprises the reaction product obtained by reacting as non- ionic surfactant containing from 4 to 12 moles of ethylene oxide per non-ionic molecule together with glutoraldehyde and triethylene glycol in a mole ratio of from 2.0 to 0.5 to 1.0 to 1.75 respectively from 20 to 30 minutes at ambient temperature and at a pH of from 4.0 to 5.5. The resulting composition provides anti-viral and general biocidal activity and a generally useful sterilant with reduction of hazards common to such liquid sterilizers.
