Structure, and a related method, for sealing, from the outside, a leaking puncture wound in the wall of a liquid container. This structure includes a patch body having a perimetered cavity selectively securable via a self-torque- limiting bolt to the outside of such a container in a manner whereby the cavity overlies and faces the wound, with the cavity's perimeter surrounding the wound, and a patch pellet contained and confined in the cavity and formed, at least in part, of a reaction substance which, with the patch body secured to the container, reacts to contact with liquid leaking from the container at least by imbibing such liquid and swelling to apply wound-sealing pressure, and more preferably by additionally reacting with leakage liquid to form a sticky coagulant mass for aiding in applying sealing pressure to the wound. The patch body may either be placed directly against the outside of a container or may be employed with an intermediate, resilient gasket which centralizes the symmetrical introduction of leakage liquid into the pellet- containing cavity in the patch body.
L'invention concerne une structure et un procédé associé destinés au colmatage, par l'extérieur, d'une perforation au niveau de la paroi d'un récipient de liquide. Cette structure comprend une pièce comportant un espace annulaire, pouvant être fixée de manière sélective, à l'aide d'un boulon à limitation automatique de couple, à la paroi extérieure dudit récipient, de façon que ledit espace annulaire recouvre la perforation et entoure celle-ci. La structure comprend également une bille contenue et confinée dans la cavité, constituée, au moins en partie, d'une substance de réaction. Cette substance, lorsque la pièce est fixée au récipient, réagit au contact du liquide qui s'échappe de la fuite du récipient et gonfle pour appliquer une pression qui empêche le liquide de s'écouler. Mieux encore, cette substance peut former une masse coagulante collante qui aide à appliquer une pression sur la fuite. La pièce peut être placée directement contre la partie extérieure du récipient ou utilisée avec un joint intermédiaire souple qui permet de concentrer la fuite de liquide dans la cavité contenant la bille.
