A method and apparatus for promoting uniform refrigerant flow in a minichannel heat exchanger by providing a liquid-vapor separator between an expansion device and the inlet header such that the refrigerant vapor will pass directly to the compressor and only the liquid refrigerant will pass to the inlet header. The liquid-vapor separation is accomplished by way of a float valve which prevents the flow of liquid refrigerant to the compressor and the flow of refrigerant vapor from the outlet manifold, through the valve and back to the inlet manifold. A second float valve may be provided between a downstream end of the inlet manifold and the compressor for the purpose of removing any residual vapor from the liquid.
La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un appareil favorisant un écoulement de réfrigérant uniforme dans un échangeur de chaleur à minicanaux, et ce par le placement d'un séparateur liquide-vapeur entre un détendeur et le collecteur d'entrée, de façon que la vapeur de réfrigérant passe directement vers le compresseur et que seul le réfrigérant liquide passe vers le collecteur d'entrée. La séparation liquide-vapeur est effectuée à l'aide d'un régleur à flotteur, qui empêche le réfrigérant liquide de s'écouler vers le compresseur, et la vapeur de réfrigérant de sortir du collecteur de sortie, traverser le régleur à flotteur et retourner vers le collecteur d'entrée. Un second régleur à flotteur peut être disposé entre une extrémité aval du collecteur d'entrée et le compresseur, afin que toute vapeur résiduelle soit éliminée du liquide.
