ABSTRACT This invention provides a method of and apparatus for preventing a multi-celled battery from undergoing voltage reversals. The potential of the battery and of at least one battery cell are monitored and compared to reference potentials. The load is electrically disconnected when either the battery potential or cell potential falls below its corresponding reference potential, thereby preventing further discharge of the battery and reversal of the cell.
