A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell having improved discharge properties is provided. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell having improved discharge properties can be obtained when a lithium cobalt compound oxide, which has a Ni content of 100 ppm or less and which is represented by the following chemical formula (1), is used as a positive active material for a positive electrode. Li x Co1-y M y O2N z ... (1) In the chemical formula (1), M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of transition metal elements except Co and Ni and elements of group II, XIII, XIV, and XV, N represents a halogen atom, and 0.10<=x<=1.25, 0<=y<=0.05, and 0<=z<=0.05 are satisfied.
