An explosion-proof valve electrical disconnect assembly incorporates a vent valve contact disk which seals the can of a compact electrochemical cell and which faces a juxtaposed stripper contact disk welded at the center by a weld nugget at a weld point, forming a rigid, preferably increased thickness, mass. The underlying stripper contact disk is weakened about the weld point, surrounding the weld nugget to ensure pull-through of the stripper contact disk portion immediately adjacent to the weld connection to effect initial electrical separation of the two contact disks. Subsequent rupture of the vent valve contact disk releases high pressure gas internally from the cell. A semi-rigid assembly cup may support a rigid grommet functioning to sandwich the vent valve contact disk and the stripper contact disk facilitated by crimping of the can top about a deformable L-shaped cross-section annular assembly cup. A current responsive PTC element forms a second circuit breaker independent of the first mechanical circuit breaker formed by the two contact disks.
Cette invention concerne un coupe-circuit électrique à soupape de sûreté antidéflagrant composé d'un disque frangible assurant l'étanchéité du boîtier d'une cellule électrochimique compacte et disposé face à un disque coupe-circuit juxtaposé et soudé au centre par un noyau de soudure de façon à former une masse rigide ayant de préférence une épaisseur accrue. Le disque coupe-circuit est affaibli autour du noyau de soudure afin de permettre la flexion du disque coupe-circuit pour amorcer la séparation électrique des deux disques. La rupture subséquente du disque frangible libère le gaz sous haute pression contenu dans la cellule électrochimique. Une coupelle semi-rigide peut supporter une bague rigide conçue pour enserrer les deux disques précités sur leur pourtour, l'assemblage étant facilité par le sertissage du fond supérieur du boîtier autour d'un anneau déformable de section en L. Une thermistance à coefficient de température positif constitue un deuxième coupe-circuit indépendant du premier coupe-circuit mécanique formé par les deux disques susmentionnés
